SUMMARY:Liam Strong Charity Beach Run
DESCRIPTION:WHAT\nThe Liam Strong Charity Beach Run was created to honor our son\, Liam Fredric Batten\, who we lost at 6 months of age to childhood cancer. In the short time he was here\, Liam inspired every person he touched in more ways than we can put into words. We want to honor Liam and give back to all of the doctors and nurses at North Carolina Children’s Hospital that are so special to our family.\n\nWHEN\nSunday\, September 14\, 2025\n\nWHERE\nJohnnie Mercer’s Pier\n23 E Salisbury Street\nWrightsville Beach\, NC  28480\n\nPARKING\nParking is available through metered parking (can be paid with CC).\n\nPACKET PICKUP\nSaturday\, September 13\, 2025: Location TBA\n4-6PM\n*If you cannot make it to Pre-Race Packet Pickup\, we do offer last chance pick-up on Sunday morning. We encourage you to get your packet on Saturday to avoid lines on race morning. \n\nRACE DAY SCHEDULE\nSunday\, September 14\, 2025\nJohnnie Mercer’s Pier\n23 E Salisbury Street\nWrightsville Beach\, NC 28480\n \n8:00 AM – Last Chance Packet Pick Up\n(**If you picked-up your packet on Saturday\, you do not need to check in race morning\, just head to the start line)\nCHECK IN WILL END AT 8:50am\, after this time\, you can register and complete the race but you will not be able to be timed.\n8:50 AM – LOVE for LIAM – speeches to honor Liam from Bryan and Charlotte Batten\, and Dr. Benny Joyner from UNC Children’s. Important announcements will also be made at this time.\n9:05 AM – 5K Starts\n9:15 AM – 1 Mile Fun Run Starts\n10-10:20 AM – Awards\nAll Race Registration is online.  Please register before arriving at the race.\nAWARDS\nKids 1 Mile Fun Run\nTop male and female finisher under 18\nTop 3 boys and girls – 8 and under; and 9-17\n\n5K\nTop Male and Female Overall Finisher\n\nTop 3 Male and Female Finishers in Age Groups – 19 & under\, 20-29\, 30-39\, 40-49\, 50-59\, 60+\n\n\n\n\n\n\nSilent Auction\n\nWith over 70 items last year\, we were able to raise over $25\,000 for UNC Children’s Hospital. SUMMARY:YMCA Wrightsville Beach Sprint Triathon
DESCRIPTION:This event  has become a major fund raiser for the YMCA over the years. According to Dick Jones the  current Y director this event raises money for community outreach in our county. Dick has also turned into a triathlete much because of the good energy being radiated from all involved in such a great event. While interviewing Dick for this article he just wanted to thank the Town of Wrightsville Beach\, New Hanover county\, and The city of Wilmington for allowing such a major event to take place\, because without their cooperation it would not be possible.
