SUMMARY:Shakori 40 Running Festival
DESCRIPTION:The Shakori 40 brings the running community together for a celebration of nature\, team camaraderie\, and live music. We offer a 40-mile ultramarathon\, a 40K open race for men and women\, and a 40-mile age-graded team relay for up to 10 members—factoring in age and gender to determine the overall winning team. There’s also a 4-mile open race. Our cross-country style course winds through the Shakori Hills Community Art Center in Pittsboro\, NC. \nShakori Hills\, located just outside Chapel Hill\, NC\, is renowned for the Shakori Hills Music Festival. The Community Art Center is a place where everyone can enjoy nature\, walk scenic trails\, spend sunny afternoons with family\, and immerse themselves in art\, music\, and life’s simple pleasures. By embracing these abundant resources\, our local culture continues to thrive. \nYou’ll have a blast at the Shakori 40\, thanks to great camaraderie\, live music\, delicious food\, camping\, bonfires\, craft beer\, and so much more. Join us each December for a weekend you’ll never forget!

DESCRIPTION:“AvanceCare” Dashing Thru The Glow \nDowntown Wilmington and It’s Go Time welcome you to the AvanceCare Dashing Thru The Glow 5K. Join us as we bring together the Christmas spirit\, family fun\, and entertainment. Experience the beautiful views of the Cape Fear River. \nRun or walk through the holiday lights in downtown Wilmington\, take pictures next to the Christmas Tree\, and meet Santa himself! The elves will be at the finish line passing out Finisher Medals to all the good little boys and girls who finish the 5K and 1 Mile. To make this event even better\, everyone receives a light up holiday beanie. \n*Parts of the course are a little dark\, we encourage you to bring a headlamp. \n\nBEST DRESSED COSTUME CONTEST!\nDeck your halls to the max and enter the Best Dressed Runner Costume Contest! \nPull out your most festive tinsel\, garland\, twinkle lights and beyond to show us what it means to Holiday-Slay All Day! Open House does more than just meet youths’ basic needs for food\, clothing\, and shelter. Personal growth is encouraged through counseling services\, vocational/educational opportunities\, life skill building\, and recreational activities. All confidential services are provided at no cost to youth and their families\, and continue for a period of three months after discharge\, to maximize the success of the family reunification plan.
